Zumbathon!

Zumba was in full effect at the Eastside Church! They hosted a “Zumbathon” to benefit the Maltby Food Bank. It was such a blast! Lisa Bluhm, Mrs. Washington 2011 was recently certified and asked to lead a few sessions during the 3 hour long Zumba marathon. Participants were encouraged to bring canned food donations as well as all proceeds from food sales went to the Food Bank. Mrs. Tumwater, Karen Caldwell and Mrs. Pacific Northwest, Larissa Long were there as well zumba-ing and showing their support. A huge thank you to Carol Lee, whom I know through “Queen, it’s a new day!” for inviting me to attend and welcome guests at the registration desk. My daughter Avery joined me!  We had so much fun, but the best part was being called on stage to do Zumba in my evening gown! We all had a good laugh at that:) It was a fun filled afternoon for such a great cause. I pray the Lord will bring some more events like this for all of us to attend!

Christella’s Closet Crown Luncheon with Chelsea Cooley!

I again had the privilege of traveling to Portland for another pageant event! This time it was to Christella’s Closet, a gown shop extraordinaire. I cannot believe the size of their show room and the absolutely stunning gowns they have on hand available to try on or purchase! I was in pageant heaven. Michelle; the owner, is amazing and invited current title holders to attend a luncheon to celebrate their new show room. She also had Miss USA 2005 Chelsea Cooley there giving coaching sessions and answering tons of questions. It was such an honor to meet her! Chelsea is known for her work with breast cancer, raising thousands of dollars for the cause of prevention and awareness. Hearing her share her story was very inspiring and close to my heart. I got to see some of the title holders that were just crowned from the IJM pageant I had just judged the previous weekend. They were just delightful to see in there new crowns and sashes, making their first appearances. I had a chance to talk with several of the young women and I am just so impressed with their poise and grace. I am very excited to work with Christella’s Closet in the near future. I even purchased a gown for nationals! For more information please visit:http://christellas.com/

Mrs. Washington Pageant Contestant Orientation Brunch

It seems we always have snow lately when we all try to get together! It was a winter wonderland at the space needle where our fabulous directors hosted a brunch. We all got a chance to meet the new contestants and visit with several of the former queens. It was wonderful seeing everybody and catching up with each other. One of the best things about this pageant is the comradery we all have with each other. Let me just say though, I am so thankful I am not competing this year! These women competing for 2013 are absolutely stunning. It is going to be a very special year! The Presidential Volunteer Service Awards

4 consecutive Mrs. Washingtons were honored with a Presidential Volunteer Service Award. There were over 40 people honored who have given of their time to volunteer over 100 hours in 2011. It was a wonderful event and I was excited to be a part of it. The event took place at the Snohomish County Courthouse and we had our picture taken with Senator Hobbs.
