New Day Northwest

I have been so blessed by so many people. Larissa Long, Mrs. Pacific Northwest asked me to be in a style segment for New Day Northwest and from that I was able to model twice more and become a regular style segment model. I have always wanted to be a model, but was always told I was not tall enough. Competing in this pageant has given me the confidence I needed to be a model. It’s all about feeling good about yourself and letting your inner beauty shine through. Attached are some links to the segments:)

Is journalism in my future?

While I was at the Northwest Women’s show, I was asked by the Seattle PI to do some reporting about the vendors and what was going on. I had the pleasure of interviewing several people and had a fantatsic time. See the attached link for my interviews and flat singing voice!

My top five favorite things RIGHT NOW…..

1). Hot yoga. I love to sweat. I think maybe it is the psychological feeling I get of losing fat and shedding pounds. I feel like a stick of butter, and the fat just melts away. But, really it is more than that for me. I go to this place, this weird space of almost leaving my body. I do the yoga moves as if I were someone else. I have no idea how I can get my body to move the way it does in Hot Yoga, but I amaze myself a little bit. Each session I get stronger, I become more relaxed and I enjoy praying and channeling the peace I feel into a space of talking with the Lord. There is just something about when you cleanse your system you feel the need to take presence with the Lord and cleanse your soul. Kind of like fasting I think. I love it. http://www.hotyogamillcreek.com/index2.php?v=v1#/home/

2). Nivea Sun Kissed Beautiful Legs Shave Minimizing Gradual Tanner. I look better tan. What’s the saying? “If you can’t tone it, Tan it!” Words to live by. I have used tanning beds in the past, but ever since my sister became an Estetician; she has terrified me with the cancer statistics so I try to stay away. I hate the smell of self tanners and my awesome spray tan lady (Shelly Aaron-LOVE HER) is in West Seattle. I was at a loss until I discovered this Nivea product. It smells clean and I keep it in the shower with me and apply it after I have toweled off a bit. It says it’s for legs, but I use it on my shoulders and arms too and it works great. If I have an event coming up I make sure I start using it daily, but other wise once a week keeps me from looking pasty. http://www.drugstore.com/nivea-sun-kissed-beautiful-legs-gradual-tan-moisturizer-for-fair-to-medium-skin/qxp210953

3). My Gazelle. Don’t hate. It rocks. I can work all parts of my body in a 30 minute workout indoors. The funny part is I have to get my kids off it all the time. It’s super fun and good, low-key cardio. I add my weighted Walk Vest (yes I bought that too) and I am good to go. Thanks Tony Little!

4). My heated seats. I drive an older car, but I am so thankful for those heated seats! It has been so cold and today Avery had her lessons in the pouring rain. That girl is such a trooper, or just loves horses so much she didn’t even notice. When she was done, she got in the car and said “Oh Mom! Thanks for heating the seats!” Made me feel so good.

5). Snap Peas and Peanut Butter. I discovered this delightful snack because I was told I needed to eat more peanut butter, but I am not supposed to have bread. What??! My son loves to eat apples and peanut butter, but again no apples. I hate celery, so I tried the snap peas. Simply delicious. The combo of the crunch and the crisp peas inside is so good, and good for you.

The Children’s Tumor Foundation is the world’s largest non-government organization dedicated to ending Neurofibromatosis (NF) through research. NF is a genetic disorder, usually manifesting during adolescence, that causes tumors to grow on nerves throughout the body, causing blindness, deafness, learning disabilities and severe chronic pain. Currently, there is no cure for NF and there are frighteningly few treatment options.

Zumbathon!

Zumba was in full effect at the Eastside Church! They hosted a “Zumbathon” to benefit the Maltby Food Bank. It was such a blast! Lisa Bluhm, Mrs. Washington 2011 was recently certified and asked to lead a few sessions during the 3 hour long Zumba marathon. Participants were encouraged to bring canned food donations as well as all proceeds from food sales went to the Food Bank. Mrs. Tumwater, Karen Caldwell and Mrs. Pacific Northwest, Larissa Long were there as well zumba-ing and showing their support. A huge thank you to Carol Lee, whom I know through “Queen, it’s a new day!” for inviting me to attend and welcome guests at the registration desk. My daughter Avery joined me!  We had so much fun, but the best part was being called on stage to do Zumba in my evening gown! We all had a good laugh at that:) It was a fun filled afternoon for such a great cause. I pray the Lord will bring some more events like this for all of us to attend!
